Digital Diving with Google Maps

Be part of a real experience. At Submaldives we share the same point of view. Although technology can make an approach to the reality, nothing can be compared with a real experience. However, we think that technology is achieving stunning technological advances that are transforming our world. In fact, we are fascinated with the new feature that Google Maps has just released. Let’s take a deeper look. Are you ready for a digital diving experience?

Thanks to a partnership with The Catlin Seaview Survey, Google Maps now displays Street View beneath the ocean’s surface. Although right now the imaginary is very limited, you can discover some popular underwater dive spots around Hawaii, Philippines and the Great Barrier Reef. We are looking forward to see some underwater images from Madlives!

According to Google people from all over the world can now use Google Maps to swim with a turtle, follow a manta ray or snorkeling.  It is amazing, don’t you think? Now, while you are waiting for your next diving safari in Maldives you can dive under the waters of a digital ocean from your home or office. Of course, it is not the same, but it makes you feel close to paradise. If you are very interested in Google Maps Ocean you can also check this video: “Explore the ocean with Google Maps”.

Finally, we would like to share a TED Talk that goes along the same line. It is titled: “Underwater astonishments by David Gallo.” We truly believe you will enjoy while you prepare your next diving adventure. In this interesting conference David Gallo shows jaw-dropping footage of amazing sea creatures, such as a perfectly camouflaged octopus, so get ready because the show has just begun!

We’ll keep you posted!
